Ondo2016 : Abraham Governorship’s Ambition Suffers Setback As Okitipupa Delegates Shun Meeting

The ambition of Mr Olusegun Abraham to become the flag bearer of All Progressive Congress, APC, on Saturday suffered a major set back on Tuesday as a meeting organized by the aspirant to host party delegates in Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State was shunned by majority of the delegates.

Okitipupa LGA has 13 wards with about 194 delegates. Ward executives, local government executives and State executives of the party from the local council made up the about 194 delegates list.

Sources in the party confided in OndoTrumpet that the meeting was organised by Mr Abraham to familiarize himself with the delegates and ascertain his political strength in the local council.
The aspirant was visibly angry with his coordinators in Okitipupa due to low attendance at the meeting. A source said the aspirant had disbursed huge sum of money to his coordinators few days ago after they told him he has strong support base in the local government.

Despite the support of a governorship aspirant of the party, Dr Paul Akintelure, only 21 delegates attended the meeting initiated by Mr Abraham. Dr Akintelure, who recently endorsed the candidature of Mr Abraham, hails from Igbotako community in the local council. Over 160 delegates shunned the meeting.

An investigation by Wole Omotehinse of OndoTrumpet indicated that the over 160 delegates, who shunned Mr Abraham, are loyalists of other governorship aspirants of the party.

A delegate who pleaded anonymity said the lawmaker representing Ondo North, Senator Ajayi Boroffice has about 107 loyal delegates in the local government. She claimed Mrs Oladunni Odu and Mr Diran Iyantan are strong mobilizers for Boroffice in the local government.
The delegate further said Aspirants Tayo Alasoadura and Olusola Oke have many loyal delegates in Okitipupa local government area.

Mr Olusegun Abraham, who was shunned by the delegates, is the anointed aspirant of the National leader of APC, Chief Bola Tinubu. The aspirant enjoys gale of endorsement from many political groups in Ondo State.
