Year 2017 has went to river to drink and it did not not disappoint us in politics. Nigeria politics has continued to give us thrilling and gaping moments more than onion layers.
As the year 2018 succeeds the latter, Nigerianewsmill looks back on some of the best and most significant moments in Nigeria politics during the last 12 months
#10. Maina’s reinstatement,
The dust was rolled over the recall of fugitive and former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, who was on the run for alleged N2b scam, among others.
Maina, who had been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud, was reinstated into the civil service under controversial circumstances. He was posted to the ministry of interior.
#9. IPOB vs Army
Nnamdi Kanu , dragged separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) , into mainstream Nigerian consciousness.
Everything came to a head in September when his group became embroiled in public clashes with soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
The eventful week started with an alleged September 10, 2017 invasion of Kanu's father's compound in Afaraukwu , Umuahia by soldiers who also allegedly shot at IPOB members who formed a human shield to keep them out.
#8. 10. Atiku's dumping of APC for PDP
Mixed reactions trails former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar return to PDP after dumping the party since 2014.
It is indisputable that Atiku returned to PDP to see if he can actualize his presidential ambition come 2019 having seen it will be impossible for him to get presidential ticket in APC.
#7. Buhari's medical trips
President Muhammadu Buhari did not fail to be the centre of attention for most of the year, half of it for the wrong reasons. The president's two high profile trips to London to treat an undisclosed illness didn't help his stock much as it sent millions tongues wagging.
He spent 154 days out of the country treating himself while remaining completely silent about the nature of his illness.
When he came back from his second trip that took 103 days, he assured Nigerians of the country's ironclad unity and rebuked social media comments that crossed the national red line.
#6. Ibori's return
The return of former Governor James Ibori back into Nigeria, who was released from UK prison in December 2016 after serving four years and eight months of his sentence gathered monuments like returned of Jesus Christ back into Jerusalem.
Upon his arrival in Nigeria at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, throngs of family members and well-wishers received the former governor, as airport security officials and some staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria exchanged pleasantries with him
#5. Rochas And Erected Stattus
Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha trended on social media over a statue erected in honour of President Jacob Zuma of South Africa.
Asides the mammoth statue, Governor Rochas also named a
road after Mr. Zuma. Mr. Zuma was also conferred with a traditional title of Ochiagha Imo, by Eze Imo, Samuel Ohiri.
The uproar resulting from the erected status and appointment of his sister Ogechi Ololo as the commissioner for happiness and purpose’ fulfillment caused heavy gridlock on social media
#4. Ademola Adeleke Groovy Moves
Ademola Adeleke, a senator representing Osun west, displayed groovy moves in celebration of his victory at the state’s senatorial by-election.
A video which trended on social media showed Adeleke, who is an uncle to music star Davido, moving energetically as he thrilled an excited audience.
In an interview with National Assembly TV, the senator revealed that he loves dancing.
“I love dancing and I take it as an exercise,” he said.
“The dance I did was a victory dance.”

Once the N13bn cash stashed away in an apartment at Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos was uncovered in by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the usually dour face of the then Director General of the NIA, Ayo Oke, became crestfallen.
Oke and his better half were accused of appropriating state funds to themselves under the guise of surveillance operations, and he was given the boot. His sacking was said to have been recommended by the Osinbajo panel.

Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye, never hides his claws, he is like Floyd Mayweather, he defends every brick throw at him and punches back his opponents in a counterattacking approach.
The senator was involved in a certificate scandal, and in a bid to pour cold water on canard made against him by enemies, Melaye made hilarious video where he broke into a song and dance like a dragon

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on September 2017 declared his intention to run for president in 2019 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However, his declaration for presidency was greeted with mixed reactions from keen observers, and political watchers across the country
Senator Ahmed Makarfi described Governor Ayo Fayose’s declaration of interest in the PDP’s presidential ticket as “uncalled for and unhealthy.”
While at the other edge, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) commended the courage and the boldness with which Governor, Ayodele Fayose, openly declared his intention to contest the 2019 presidential election.
