Dr. Olusegun Abraham, the front-line candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the September 3 primary election in Ondo state, has denied the rumour being peddled in some spheres across the state that he has collapsed his structure to support a candidate on another political platform.
Reports went rife in the past week, that the Olusola Oke camp, who recently d ecamped from the APC to the Alliance for Democracy (AD), have been telling party members and people across the state that Dr. Abraham had collapsed his political structure to support his candidature on AD platform.

But in a statement made available to NAIJ.com by Dr. Abraham’s media aide, Sayo Aluko, the favoured candidate of the APC national leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu described the rumour as “blatantly false”, and a type that

“lacks commonsense and credibility”.
He said: “Contrary to what I a hear that Olusola Oke is saying all over Ondo at the moment, I have not collapsed my structure for anybody, talk less someone who is no longer a member of my party and someone who I am far popular than.
“In as much as I am not surprised at this usual level of desperation from the Oke people, I am disappointed at the extent of falsehood being peddled. If he is indeed popular, why get so desperate to use my name under a false pretense to deceive the people and gain popularity?”

He added: “Even, anybody with a politically sound mind will know that such move has no iota of truth in it. My candidacy enjoys greater popularity and acceptance compared to Olusola Oke’s and all the other aspirants, both by valid delegates’ votes and by the show of massive public goodwill recently typified by the overwhelming solidarity rally staged by the people of Ondo for my candidacy on Tuesday, October 4, 2016.
“So, how can I then undermine this much faith put in me, both politically and publicly, by collapsing my structure for a less popular individual? It doesn’t fit commonsense and surely lacks
credibility.”

Abraham also urged his supporters to discard the rumour even as he remains focused on reclaiming his mandate.

He said: “I therefore ask the good people of Ondo state and my party members in the APC to discard this rumour as blatantly false, even as I urge them to remain resilient and focused on the quest to save our party from deeds of undemocratic desperados who are recklessly determined to soil our party’s reputation in the mud of corruption and injustice

“Also, I use this opportunity to reassure my teeming and esteemed supporters that our mandate is alive, and as long as we keep calling for justice to be done, we shall reclaim this mandate and bring practical governance to the benefit of the Ondo people and the pride of our great party.”

A first runner-up in the much controversial September 3 APC primary, Abraham has remained on course to reclaim the mandate allegedly stolen from him, as he lays claim on having the highest number of valid votes polled in the shadow poll.

Report had it that Tinubu wanted Segun Abraham to become the party’s candidate, ahead of the November 26 governorship election in the state.
However, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was declared winner of the APC governorship primaries after polling 669 votes, with Abraham coming second with 635 votes.
